Vonage

Vonage telephone service sales person said that Vonage and Clearwire internet service were compatible. Vonage system kept rebooting itself and disconnecting me. I discontinued service and they billed me $129.85/final bill. I requested they bill American Express account. I got an overdrafted my checking account.The customer service, products, and equipment in my opinion are inferior. I did not appreciate being told they were compatible and Vonage insist that nothing can be done. I want others to know how bad my interaction was with Vonage so they can avoid them and do not get trapped like I did.

Vonage rips off another!

I too have been ripped off by Vonage. I cancelled my service and had to pay for 2 lines of cancellations of $39.99, and also the equipment for $79.99. I don't want it, but they won't take it back. One phone line was a $24.99 rate, the other a $14.99. But yet I pay the $39.99 for each one. Even though the service was less than perfect. Did not work most the time, not compatiable with my internet service at all! When you cancel they harass you to remain a customer. The response team leaves messages for me to call them back, but can never get through. We have been playing phone tag for a week now. I do work, and cannot be home the hours they are availiable, not sure why they cannot handle it via email! At any rate, I am still trying to get a hold of the response person!

First off... I am not a big fan of Vonage, However...everything you said was in the Terms of Service.

Do not complain about something if you do not read the terms of service. Secondly, if you did not refer to your billing to make sure all the charges were correct and then not even change it when you found out it was, shame on you. Third...The Service works as well as your Internet connection. You get a time to try the service to see if you like it, then, you get your money back.

Everything is in the TOS.

Maybe people should pay attention to the fine print, rather than signing up for things in the blind and blaming other's for their lack of education. :(

This is why they're about to go out of business.

I'm shocked that people complain when they try to purchase an inferior product. If Vonage was such a good product, then why to they need to discount vs a regular phone line?

Also, if you want privacy, then why would you want your phone conversations sent through the internet? It's scary enough giving credit card numbers over your cell phone, but using the internet for phone service?

Vonage, Time Warner Cable phone, etc are all digitized packet phone services. If you want cheap, don't complain about cheap quality.

Vonage is a reap off. They will take your money!!!!

VONAGE IS TERRIBLE. I ordered the service on 08/11/08 and called to cancel my service on 09/11/08. I returned the products back to Vonage a week after receiving it. The customer service WAS NOT ABLE TO CANCEL MY ACCOUNT and switched me to a manager and that manage switched me to a dispute Account Manager. The Account Manager told me, I was over 30 days in canceling my account and they CAN NOT REFUND ME BACK FOR SERVICE I DID NOT USE, WHICH HIT MY ACCOUNT ON 09/11/08 of $42.95 exactly 30 days. I was also told that in order to cancel the account a fee of $39.95 and 47.95 will come out of my account for penalty. WHAT THA??? I told the lady I will report them to the BBB if they refused to close out my account and continue to charge me. DO NOT GO WITH VONAGE... IT'S A TRAP....THEY REMIND ME OF A GANG...YOU WILL BE PENTALIZED IF YOU CANCEL OUT!!!! SELLING YOU LIFE AWAY!!!!

Never will i tell somebody about this company. They charge my account for not return the merch with 7days. When the customer service agent never told me about the 7day period. The customer service agent doesn't speak good English so you don't know what they are saying. the tell you to call back to speak to someone else so that they don't have to deal with the problem. The reason i cancelled the first machine was defective they sent out another one it was the same way. Then when i called to cancel they ask me if i had someone i can transfer the service too.Why?

i was signed up for a year and they tried to tell me i was signed up for 2 yrs..and i said (NOT) and closed my credit card first then canceled vonage account..over 1 year my vonage account kepted raisen prices at 2.00 at a time..and i told them their service sucked and was not worth it and will not come back..they are a rip off..and now they send me a email saying i still owe 39.95 for cancelin my account,,i told them to KISS my A**....

Vonage in Minneapolis, Minnesota - Don't give vontage your credit card Number

I call vontage to disconte my service. I was told I would owe a disconte fee. I told them that I was never told about the fee and disconte my service they refused and bill me for service the next month where I then change my credit card. I told them it like RAPE I told you to stop but they keep going. I contact them told them to send me a statement insted they sent it collection company stating they do not send out statement. I never work with such bad customer service from a company. Customers come last money first.

Customer Service has to be the worst on the planet You are lied to over and over again about receiving help. You are put on hold for infinity. No one calls you back. Much negativity has already been posted. I Agree with it. After making 5 calls, spending 2 weeks waiting for a return call and being transferred to empty space, I give Vonage a minus *** the area of any type of Care, customer or otherwise. They say they care about you as a customer, but I think its just part of the script they read from. if they really cared, it would not be so many of the same kind of complaints listed in this forum and other forums. Just wish I had done a background review brefore signing up with them. This site is now a top search site for me. Thanks for being here.

Please everyone don't believe in vonage they lie. The costumer service are liars they don't care about costumers they only care about the money.

I HATE vonage with all my heart an I hope vonage can go to ***. They are getting money from my debit card eventhough I already cancel my account.

I just want to say please don't get vonage you will regreat it all your life. Vonage kiss my ***.

Vonage has a "no fee for cancelling" policy. Yet buried way down in that huge scroll of terms, they do indeed charge you a $40.00 fee on top of your monthly fees for cancelling early.

Even the Better Business Bureau could not get them to reverse this deceptive practice. Would not give business to this overtly fraudulent company.

I too experienced problems with vonage. I called to cancel in February was told since I was a good customer they would keep my service active til April 15, then cancel it.

On April 16th they attempted to charge my debit card.

I called customer service and was given the run around, told them to check the notes as I was told it would be cancelled, they insisted I needed to pay for a month's service, I contacted customer service & informed them that I was contacting the state attorney general's office and the better business bureau, since I was sure they had pulled this on others in my state, this is all it took to get them to cancel service and cancel the false charges. My advice is to watch vonage.

I called to cancel my service, after having to call no less then 5 times, to find out that no one after 4:55est time can cancel the account, I had to call back the next day, where I told them I wanted to cancel my service, after much fighting with shaun, and his constant trying to sell me on different services he finally said he was canceling the account and that I was going to be charge a cancellation fee of 122.98 and would not cancel my service till I agreed to pay it. If you search the web, this has happend to many other people. Everyone this happens to needs to file as many complaints in as many places as they can, till vonage stops scamming the people of america.

Vonage in San Jose, California - Extra fees when trying to disconnect...

I disconnected my Vonage...and I was told it would cost me $120 to do so...I asked them to show me the paper work that states this $120 cost...they told me to look at my terms of agreement...which I did...it states a $39.99 disconnect fee...no other money is stated (my account is all paid up)...I asked for a printout showing why they are charging me $120... They would not, instead they disconnected the number and sent me an e-mail showing that they are charging me $120.58...what is up with that!!!

Vonage phone service is actually a disservice.

When someone called our house, they had to dial long distance because it appeared on caller I'd that we lived in a differenr town. Also, the call was dropped almost every time! - tried to disconnect with their service- two freaking hours on the phone! I had to keep calling back because they kept hanging up on me! The deal advertised on TV was rhe one we got, but yet 200 dollars came out of my pocket! Well, the "free" 30 day trial ended on a weekend so if I called to quit the service that monday, I would be within the 30 days. No! I still had to pay a full bill and pay additional fees to quit Vonage! Vonage sucks!

one year ago last april i sent in 130 some dollars for a wifi phone with much a do couldnt get it to work very poor service sent back that phone back couldnt give my money back but sent the cheaper 40 dollar one and a promise to work and remaining money in credit plus one month free didnt work so give an additional 3 months free service never used nor worked aug. i got a bill for 117 dollars of service used constantly billed and threated since now owe some 2oo and some dollars plus a bad credit report is this a right way to do business i think a rip off thanks
